Critical Battery Alert

When the batteries are not getting charged, an alarm is raised

Updated over a week ago

The battery voltage and charge status is constantly being monitored by the App. When the battery voltage falls below 4.3volts, a Critical Alert is raised.

Possible causes of this error can be:

  • A damaged Solar Panel

  • Leaves, snow and other debris on the Solar Panel reducing its efficiency

  • The panel may have moved during high wind days

  • Loss of direct access to daylight due to foliage growth

Immediate resolution to the problem should be found otherwise damage to the charge capacity of the batteries will occur.

This message will remain in place until the Refresh button has been pressed.

Before proceeding to reset the alarm message, check the Solar Panel for possible causes outlined above.

When the Refresh button is pressed, the alarm state is cleared. A test is then started to check the condition of the Solar Panels output and battery voltage. Press the Solar Icon to check the Solar Voltage output voltage.

Any value above 3volts indicates the Solar Panel is charging the batteries. When the batteries are at the alarm threshold level it may take up to 24hrs or longer to re-charge them fully depending on the available daylight hours.

How to confirm the Solar Panel is working:

Press the Refresh button on the Home Page. This will send a command to the ChickenGuard to read the Solar Panels voltage and battery status. Now press the Solar Icon to display the results.
