What causes the Ext Light Error?
The External Light Error indicates that the unit is looking for an external light sensor. However, the external light sensor is not an accessory that is yet available for mark-5 models.
To stop this error message from showing, we will need to turn off the External Light Sensor option.
How can you turn off the Ext Light Sensor setting?
Follow the below instructions:
Press the menu button to wake the screen
Press the menu button once more to open the Settings Menu
Use the down button to scroll to "Misc Settings", using the menu button to select this option
Use the down button to scroll to "Ext Light Sensor", using the menu button to select this option
Select "No" using the down button
The "Ext Light Error" will now no longer appear.
What if the Ext Light Sensor setting does not appear in Misc Settings?
If the Ext Light Sensor option does not appear inside "Misc Settings", then you may have a 2023 model, and the setting wil instead be located in the "Secret Menu".
Follow the below instructions:
Press the menu button to wake the screen
Press and hold the menu button for 5+ seconds until you see "Continue?"
Select “YES” using the up button
Use the up or down button to scroll to "Ext Light Sensor", using the menu button to select this option
Select "No" using the down button
If the screen does not now display "Exit", use the up button to scroll until you do see "Exit"
Press the menu button to select this option and return to the home screen
The "Ext Light Error" will now no longer appear.
