ChickenGuard door openers can be fitted to various coop styles, but to make planning easier we thought it might be helpful to give some examples and ideas.
Coops with a standard pop-hole door
This is the style of door the ChickenGuard Door Opener was originally designed to work with.
If there is room, a Standard or PRO model can be mounted 3 inches above the door's highest point when open.
You may also be interested in the Locking Door, which can be installed over a maximum door opening of 10 inches x 12 inches. The frame must be rigid and sturdy to support the Locking Door and ensure smooth operation.
Alternatively, an All-in-One unit can be mounted over the top of the door opening, in place of the door itself. Ensure that the black stoppers on the door are positioned at the bottom with the stoppers facing you for proper alignment and operation. The door should also be securely mounted to a solid, rigid frame and not directly onto mesh surfaces. Stability is crucial for effective functioning.
The All-in-One can fit over a maximum door opening of 101⁄2 inches x 111⁄2 inches. For coops without a solid frame, consider adding a sturdy frame or panel to ensure compatibility with the All-in-One unit.

Coops with doors that lift at an angle
By this, we mean the type of door used by coop companies like Nestera (formerly Green Frog).
Our door opener models are compatible with these sorts of doors, however, you will need to make sure your door opener is using manual calibration instead of automatic calibration.
Please see our article on Compatibility with Nestera Coops for more guidance.
