Plastic chicken coops have become very popular over the last few years, and utilising such a material has allowed manufacturers to create some fabulously creative designs. In this article, we will explain which of the most popular plastic coops are compatible with our different models.
The different manufacturers are listed below in alphabetical order.
Arkus
Compatible, mostly
Many of Arkus' coops utilise a pop-hole door. If this is the case with your Arkus coop, then you can use either a Standard or PRO model ChickenGuard Door Opener to lift and close the door. You can also remove the existing door to make use of a Self-Locking Door.
Some very large Arkus coops feature a sideways-sliding door instead of a pop-hole door. Unfortunately, coops with sliding doors are not compatible with any of our products.
Cucciolotta/Easicoop
Compatible
Cucciolotta coops are not made of plastic, but fall into the category of mite-proof coops; they are made using recycled kraft paper and resin.
Cucciolotta coops can be ordered with either a Cucciolotta brand pop-hole door, or can be purchased with a ChickenGuard Door Opener and Self-Locking Door combi kit already installed. If you have a Cucciolotta coop with one of their doors installed you can still install a Standard or PRO model to lift and close it.
You may also be able to install an All-in-One model if you remove the door and runners first.
Henlays
Compatible
Henlays' coops are featured in many of our promotional photographs, and are definitely compatible with the Standard and PRO models.
You can purchase a Henlays coop with a ChickenGuard Door Opener and Self-Locking Door combi kit already installed. Alternatively, if your Henlays coop has its own pop-hole door, you can use a ChickenGuard Door Opener to lift and close it.
You could also install an All-in-One model on these coops if you were to remove the door and runners first.
Nestera (formerly Green Frog)
Compatible
Nestera are very popular and their coops have previously been sold with ChickenGuard Door Openers pre-installed. The shape of their doors is very recognisable, but they do require your Standard or PRO to be set to use Manual Calibration, as they do not allow for Auto Calibration.
Read the article on Switching between Manual and Automatic Calibration types to learn how to change your unit's calibration type.
Omlet
Not compatible
Omlet are an extremely popular brand, and unfortunately, their Eglu coops are not compatible with ChickenGuard Door Openers, due to the shape of the door and its direction of movement.
Eglu doors open horizontally, and our Door Openers rely on gravity to close the door. The door opening is also the wrong shape for an All-in-One to be installed over.
S&Co Coops
Compatible, mostly
Almost all S&Co Coops feature a distinctive style of door, but they are still compatible with the Standard and PRO model Door Openers, as long as the calibration type is set to Manual Calibration.
Read the article on Switching between Manual and Automatic Calibration types to learn how to change your unit's calibration type.
NOTE: the Cabin Broody Coop is unfortunately not compatible with any of our products due to its size and style of door.
Solway
Compatible
Some Solway coops utilise a pop-hole style door, making them compatible with the Standard and PRO model Door Openers. Coops which use a ramp-style door are compatible if a Self-Locking Door is installed and the ramp is left down. You could also install an All-in-One model on these coops if you were to remove the door and runners first.
The Animal House Company
Compatible with the All-in-One
The Small and Large coops from The Animal House Company utilise ramp doors. If the ramp is left down, an All-in-One could be installed over the door opening.
Unfortunately, these coops are not compatible with the Standard or PRO models.
The Clever Coop Company
Not compatible, mostly
The Clever Coop Company's coops utilise a horizontal hinged door, which means they are unfortunately not directly compatible with any of our products.
However, some customers have been able to install the All-in-One door over the door opening of certain Clever Coop coops. Consult the measurements available on Clever Coop's website and compare them to the dimensions of the All-in-One, available here.
